Mother of Pearl Art
For centuries, Korean artists have mastered the art of najeon chilgi, transforming ordinary lacquerware into dazzling works of beauty. Using mother-of-pearl from seashells, they create intricate designs of nature’s wonders, such as flowers, birds and butterflies.

Norigae
Norigae is a typical, traditional Korean accessory that is hung from a woman’s jeogori goreum (coat strings) or hanbok chima (skirt) and so on.
Three parts norigae with bat ornaments
A norigae can be divided into 4 parts: the ddidon (hangul : 띠돈) a hook (either a separate accessory or additional knots) to attach the norigae to the hanbok, the paemul (hangul : 패물) the main ornament of the norigae, the maedeup (hangul : 매듭) the knots of the norigae, and the sul (hangul : 술) the tassels.
Sharing Korea’s Timeless Craftsmanship with the World
As we witness our nation’s cherished traditional crafts gradually fade and artisans become scarce, our hearts fill with both sadness and determination. We founded Artinko.com with a heartfelt mission: to share the beauty and soul of authentic Korean handicrafts with people all around the world. There is still so much of Korea’s rich craftsmanship we are eager to share, and we hope that by connecting these timeless treasures with appreciative hearts, we can help keep our heritage alive.
